PITTSBURG, Kan. — A fire that damaged a vacant house early Friday in Pittsburg is being investigated as a possible case of arson.

The Pittsburg Fire Department was called at 3:57 a.m. to 712 W. Seventh St. for a fire that was venting out a window by the time firefighters arrived. Battalion Chief Brad Hill said firefighters were able to limit fire damage to the living and dining rooms of the house, but there was smoke damage throughout.

No injuries were reported. Hill said the fire was being regarded as suspicious in origin and remains under investigation by the Pittsburg police and fire departments, and the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office.
