ST. LOUIS (AP) — Missourians are marking the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama with gatherings at bars, movie theaters and concert halls.
Several spots with large TVs hosted watch parties Tuesday to celebrate the Democrat’s swearing-in as the nation’s 44th president.
Rodney Johnson, a 49-year-old Florissant man, was among about 200 people who watched the inauguration on a four-story movie screen at the St. Louis Science Center. The postal worker said he felt admiration for Obama, and exuberance for the nation’s future.
He was glad Obama acknowledged America’s financial crisis, but said he’s looking forward to seeing where the nation can go under Obama’s leadership.
Tuesday night celebrations included black-tie balls and hip hop parties.
