Two teenagers from Purdy were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Wallaby Road and Palm Road, a mile south of Fairview in Newton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Stephen R. Benbrook, 17, was taken by ambulance to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, the patrol said.

Kelly Rasmussen, 14, was taken by private vehicle to Freeman Neosho Hospital, the patrol said.

Benbrook and Rasmussen were passengers in a southbound car driven by Zachary B. Cross, 15, of Fairview, that ran off the road and overturned, striking a fence, the patrol said.
