The Missouri Department of Conservation will have a wildflower hike from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Walter Woods Conservation Area, south of Joplin.
A naturalist will help participants identify flowers, and discuss folklore and the flowers’ uses in native plant landscaping.
The program is free. Registration is requested.

Insect programset at nature center
A program on insects is slated for 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center in Wildcat Park.
Participants will explore the diverse habitats found in Wildcat Park and learn what they can do at home to help these important links in the ecosystem.
The cost is $5. The program is for those 7 and older. Registration and pre-payment are required.
