A Vinita, Okla., teenager was killed and another was injured in a single-vehicle crash at 2:27 a.m. Thursday on Highway 125, two miles south and two miles east of Bernice in Delaware County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Ethan Clark Myers, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene after being pinned in the overturned vehicle for about an hour, the patrol said.
A passenger, Jacob Boswell, 18, was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.
Myers was driving a southbound vehicle that failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the road and overturned, the patrol said.
n A Carl Junction woman was injured when her vehicle was struck by a school bus at 7:57 a.m. Thursday on South Main Street at 19th Street in Joplin, according to Joplin police.
Tammy Lee Ransom, 40, was taken to an unspecified hospital, police said.
Ransom was driving a northbound vehicle that came to a stop in the roadway while waiting for another vehicle to turn. The driver of the bus, Jennifer A. McDonald, told police that Ransom’s vehicle came to an abrupt stop in front of her, and she was unable to stop before her bus struck the vehicle.
Police said six children were on the bus, and that there were no reports of any injuries among them.
n A Schell City child was injured in an all-terrain vehicle crash at 1 p.m. Wednesday on a private drive off 2275 Road, eight miles west of Schell City in Vernon County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Jillian R. Coleman, 7, was taken to Nevada Regional Hospital, the patrol said.
The girl was a passenger on an ATV driven by Dan Gayman, 72, of Schell City. Gayman was slowing down to stop when the child fell off the vehicle, the patrol said.
n Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 9:12 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 60, about a half-mile east of Aurora in Lawrence County, according to state patrol.
Angel A. Cox, 38, Ashley S. Crane, 22, and Gary L. Crane, 34, all of Aurora, were taken to St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield.
Cox was driving an eastbound vehicle that pulled to the shoulder of the highway and then re-entered the roadway in the path of a tractor-trailer. The collision caused Cox’s vehicle to skid off the road and into a ditch, the patrol said.
The driver of the truck, Preston S. Oldebeken, 35, of Garfield, Ark., was not injured.
