COLUMBUS, Kan. — Felony drug charges have been filed against a couple in Baxter Springs after a raid at their home. Three children in the house have been placed in other homes by authorities.

Gary Tavis, 29, and Michelle Tavis, 28, each was charged with felony methamphetamine manufacturing, felony possession of meth ingredients, felony meth possession and felony possession of drug paraphernalia. Misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana possession also were filed.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department and the Baxter Springs Police Department executed the search warrant at 9 a.m. Thursday at 744 Wyandotte Ave. The couple remained in custody Monday in the Cherokee County Jail, with each held on $50,000 bond. Michelle Tavis also has outstanding warrants in Ottawa County, Okla., and Newton County, Mo., according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department.
