A Webb City man has been accused of kicking in the door of a Joplin man’s duplex and assaulting him.
Andrew L. Johnson, 29, was arrested in connection with a disturbance reported at 10:43 p.m. Monday at the home of Ansel Rebel, 21, 1122 S. Connecticut Ave.
Cpl. Chuck Niess of the Joplin Police Department said Johnson allegedly went to the address to confront Rebel and kicked in the door to the home. He allegedly began punching and kicking Rebel until Rebel fled to a bathroom. Johnson then allegedly forced his way into the bathroom and began choking Rebel.
Johnson was stopped attempting to leave the scene as officers arrived. He was charged with burglary and misdemeanor assault. His wife, who was with him, was charged with trespassing.
Niess said Rebel was checked for injuries by emergency medical assistance but did not require transport to a hospital.
