A 34-year-old Joplin man was ordered bound over for trial on a charge of first-degree child molestation after he waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Jasper County Circuit Court.

John M. Hood, 612 S. Brownell Ave., was ordered by Associate Circuit Judge Richard Copeland to make an initial appearance May 15 in a trial division of the court.

Hood is accused of entering a bedroom where a girl younger than 12 was sleeping on May 20 of last year and touching her inappropriately through her clothing. A probable-cause affidavit states that a witness walked in and allegedly spotted Hood touching the girl.
