A woman’s report that she was raped at an after-hours party Wednesday morning led to the arrest of a 21-year-old man.

Cpl. Chuck Niess of the Joplin Police Department said St. John’s Regional Medical Center contacted police about 10 a.m. Wednesday about a 21-year-old woman seeking treatment after a reported rape. The woman told police that she went to an after-hours party in Joplin and was sexually assaulted about 3 a.m. by a male acquaintance.

Niess said the woman told an officer that the man threw her down, pulled her clothes off and raped her.

Josh L. Tate, 21, 3216 S. Grand Ave., was arrested later the same day and charged with forcible rape. He remained in custody Thursday at the Newton County Jail, with bond set at $10,000.
