David Weaver, who lives near the intersection of Missouri Highway 96 and County Road 270 north of Joplin, said: “Around 6:30 a.m. we heard a big crash and looked out and the garage was totally collapsed.”
His house next to the garage sustained only minor damage. “Almost totally untouched,” he added.
Nearby, winds destroyed a large barn after lifting it from its foundation.
“It was so loud and noisy ... all the tin ... it sound liked a train coming through,” said Kim Cox, who lives nearby on County Road 266.
