JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Thousands of utility customers remain without power from the severe storms that hit southern Missouri on Friday.

State emergency officials say 48,800 residents still didn’t have power Sunday. The storms Friday killed four people and injured 12.

Most of the outages are expected to be restored in the next 24 hours. However the State Emergency Management Agency says some areas in southeast Missouri may have outages that last several days.

The state Department of Transportation reports 10 road closures due to high water. And more rain is expected Sunday in many of the affected areas.
