GALENA, Kan. — Galena police Chief Larry Delmont said this week that a former reserve officer for the department has been reinstated to his position after a misdemeanor assault charge against him was dismissed in Joplin (Mo.) Municipal Court.
Troy J. Reynolds, 40, was arrested at 10:57 p.m. Saturday, April 25, after an incident outside Guitars, 1800 W. Seventh St., in Joplin. According to Joplin police Cpl. Chuck Niess, an officer on patrol heard a woman screaming, and spotted a man and a woman struggling with each other on the ground behind the building. The parties stopped fighting when the officer approached. Neither Reynolds nor Jennifer Piercefield, 29, of Miami, Okla., signed a complaint against the other. The officer reportedly determined that Reynolds was the aggressor and arrested him.
The charge in city court was dismissed May 7, according to a court clerk.
Joplin City Prosecutor Tricia Gould said that after talking with several people who witnessed the incident, she determined that there was no action that warranted criminal prosecution.
Delmont dismissed Reynolds when the charge was filed, pending the court outcome.
