Joplin’s trash pickup will not be affected by the July 4 holiday, however the transfer station and the recycling center will be closed Saturday.
Residential trash pickup is not affected when holidays fall on the weekend, said Mary Anne Phillips, the city’s recycling coordinator.
However, the Joplin Recycling Center and Household Hazardous Waste Facility, which is normally open Tuesday through Saturday, will be closed Saturday because of the holiday.
Also, the Allied Waste Services Transfer Station on Old Route 66 at Galena, Kan., which accepts bulky items from Joplin residents, will be closed Saturday, Phillips said.
