Joplin’s annual Christmas parade set for Dec. 4; other communities also plan events

JOPLIN, Mo. — Joplin’s annual Christmas parade will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 4.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. at 20th and Main streets and travel north along Main and conclude at First and Main streets.

Casey Starnes, who is helping organize the parade along with other members of the Joplin Jaycees, said that a variety of entries lined up before the Nov. 9 deadline.

“We would like to get 100 to 130 (entries),” Starnes said. “That would put the parade at a good hour to an hour and a half.”

This year’s theme is “Caroling Through Joplin.”

A list of parades for area communities will be featured in Friday’s Joplin Globe.
