Neosho School Board hears report on healthy year-end balance

NEOSHO, Mo. — The Neosho Board of Education on Monday heard a report about a healthy unrestricted fund balance at the end of the budget year.

It was the first regular board meeting for new Superintendent Dan Decker.

Tim Crawley, district operations manager, said that the district’s unrestricted fund balance is 29 percent of the district’s $38 million budget, or around $11 million.

Board President Brett Day said the fund balance would allow the district more flexibility as it pursues plans for Federal Emergency Management Agency Safe Rooms.

The district plans a two-story, 18-classroom addition at the high school and a practice gymnasium and stage at South Elementary School.
