JOPLIN, Mo. —
Because of rain and lightning, Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity has postponed a dedication ceremony that was scheduled for 11 a.m. today, it announced on its Facebook page.
The five houses that were to be dedicated were built in the neighborhood of 24th Street and South Wall Avenue with help from the St. Louis Cardinals. They were built as part of the Governor’s Challenge, which seeks to build 35 houses in Joplin in partnership with Habitat and the state’s major athletic organizations.
Organizers said a new date and time for the dedication will be set later.
