JOPLIN, Mo. —
Lost Photos of Joplin has scheduled a claim day from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Joplin Public Library, 300 S. Main St.
The group has reunited nearly 16,000 photos with their owners after the photos were displaced in the May 2011 tornado. About 20,000 photos remain in archives at the First Baptist Church in Carthage, waiting to be reunited with their owners, according to project coordinator Donna Turner.
Anyone who lost photos in the tornado may search the group’s new website at www.NationalDisasterPhotoRescue.net, where all photos are available for viewing.
Those who lost photos should check the site between now and the claim date, tag the photos, and send a message with name, address and phone number to email@example.com.
Those who are unable to do so or lack Internet access may look through copies of each and every photo in binders made by the group, which may be arranged by calling Turner at 417-358-7266, or by cell at 417-793-3921.
