Mo. woman sentenced for harming granddaughter

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A Jefferson City woman has been sentenced to three years in prison for giving her granddaughter blood thinner.

The Jefferson City News-Tribune reported Thursday that 44-year-old Terri Chilton was sentenced after pleading guilty to endangering the welfare of a child.

Court documents indicate Chilton gave her 1-year-old granddaughter blood thinner in January 2010.

Chilton told police she gave the drugs to the child because the girl’s parents were divorcing and she hoped they would reconcile if they had a sick child.

The police statement also says Chilton admitted herself to an inpatient mental health facility after the incident.
