JOPLIN, Mo. —
More than 160 entries will be on display Friday at the annual Missouri Region 6 History Day competition held at Missouri Southern State University.
The national competition is open to students in sixth through 12th grades; locally participating students come from Joplin, Carthage, Mount Vernon, Neosho, Sarcoxie, Seneca and Wheaton.
The theme of this year’s competition is “Turning Points in History: People, Events, Ideas.” Students’ entries can be a research paper, an exhibit or display similar to a museum exhibit, a performance, a documentary presented as a video or PowerPoint, or a website.
Exhibits will be open for public viewing Friday morning in Connor Ballroom on the third floor of Billingsly Student Center at MSSU. Performances and documentaries will be presented in various rooms on the second floor of Webster Hall at MSSU.
