A former president of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen has been sentenced to 18 months in prison and ordered to pay back $10,000 after pleading guilty to bribery charges.
The sentence for 64-year-old Edward W. Rodzwicz (Rodz-wick) was announced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in St. Louis. The union, which includes 55,000 members who are railroad employees, is a division of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
Rodzwicz pleaded guilty in March.
Federal prosecutors say Rodzwicz solicited a payment from an attorney in exchange for allowing the attorney to maintain the ability to handle injury cases under the Federal Employers Liability Act.
