GRANBY, Mo. — At 100, Eunice Lewis is one of the oldest living veterans of the Women’s Army Corps.

Lewis on Monday celebrated her birthday at Granby House nursing home with dozens of well-wishers, including Missouri legislators. She turned 100 on Sunday.

One of more than 150,000 women who served in the WACs during World War II, Lewis earned the American Theater Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Her succinct advice to younger generations: “Look before you leap.”
