Branson sets Friday deadline for tornado clean up

BRANSON Mo. — Branson city officials say property owners have until Friday to remove debris left after a tornado hit the tourist destination in February.

Officials say the deadline is not just about making Branson ready for the summer tourist season. They say they are worried about safety if another storm sends the debris flying, or if children or others could be hurt by the debris.

Most of the damage from the Feb. 29 tornado was along Highway 76, Branson’s main tourist strip.

KSPR reportsabout 10 property owners have been notified by the city that they have until Friday to present a cleanup plan for their property.

If nothing is done, the city will take over the property for the cleanup.
