CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Firefighters extinguished a fire Wednesday at a cement plant in western Jasper County before it caused more than minor damage to a metal building.
The Carl Junction Fire Department responded to a report at 11:55 a.m. of a fire at the Associated Redi-Mix plant at 3690 N. Savannah Lane, which is off Fountain Road and west of Lone Elm Road.
Fire Chief Bill Dunn said an exhaust pipe for an oil-burning stove caught some wooden rafters and insulation on fire in a big metal building. Workers had evacuated the building by the time firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported, Dunn said.
