TODAY AND TONIGHT:

WINTER PRECIPITATION WILL CONTINUE TO IMPACT THE MISSOURI OZARKS

AND SOUTHEAST KANSAS TODAY. ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF

AROUND ONE INCH CAN BE EXPECTED ALONG THE HIGHWAY 71 CORRIDOR.

POINTS ALONG AND WEST OF THE HIGHWAY 65 CORRIDOR WILL SEE

PRIMARILY LIGHT FREEZING RAIN WITH ACCUMULATIONS AROUND ONE

TENTH OF AN INCH. PRECIPITATION ACROSS THE AREA WILL CHANGE OVER

TO RAIN BY AFTERNOON WITH TEMPERATURES RISING ABOVE FREEZING.

THOSE WITH TRAVEL PLANS SHOULD CLOSELY CONTINUE TO MONITOR

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OUTLOOKS AND FORECASTS FOR THE LATEST

UPDATES. THIS WINTER STORM WILL IMPACT ADJACENT AREAS OF

NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA...EASTERN KANSAS AND NORTHWEST MISSOURI.

MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY:

THE COMBINATION OF WARMING TEMPERATURES AND THE RECENT SNOWFALL

WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL THREAT FOR FLOODING EARLY NEXT

WEEK. FLOODING OF CREEKS...LOW WATER CROSSINGS... AND MAIN STEM

RIVERS WILL ALL BE POSSIBLE.

Survivor of ’78 Connor collapse dead at age 64
A big story in the history of Joplin was the 1978 collapse of the Connor Hotel at Fourth and Main streets. Alfred Summers, the man at the heart of that story, died at 6:41 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in Joplin after an illness. He was 64.
