Audit critical of operations of Diamond Municipal Court

DIAMOND, Mo. — A state audit has found the financial procedures of the Diamond Municipal Court to be in “poor” condition — the lowest rating possible. State Auditor Tom Schweich’s office released the results of a petition audit Monday.

The audit found that the court has poor accounting controls and procedures and that court records are not maintained in an orderly fashion.

Spence Jackson, a spokesman for Schweich’s office, says a petition audit of the city’s finances is currently underway. He says the field work has concluded, but it should be about a month before the final report is released.

Diamond officials have not commented yet, saying they are reviewing the audit.
