PITTSBURG, Kan. —
BJ Harris has been named the next director of the Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau. The announcement was made Wednesday by CVB board president LaWana Esch.
“I’m extremely excited to be able to serve the communities of Crawford County,” Harris said in a statement. “I strongly believe in everything we have to offer and I look forward to sharing those assets with the rest of the region.”
Harris replaces Craig Hull, who earlier this fall accepted a position with the Joplin Sports Authority.
Harris, a native of Hepler in rural Crawford County, currently serves as the operations manager for American Media Investments, where he manages day-to-day operations for three area radio stations.
He holds a communications degree from Pittsburg State University nd serves on the university’s Department of Communications advisory board. He was named Most Outstanding Student in Broadcasting in 2005 at PSU.
“We’re excited to have someone of BJ’s ability as our CVB director,” Esch said in a statement. “His knowledge of Crawford County and all it has to offer, along with his proven ability to effectivelyutilize a wide range of marketing outlets, will serve him and the county well in this role.”
