Vernon County resident Jim Bagley knew that Joplin-born author Langston Hughes wrote the poem “A Dream Deferred.”

As the winner of last week’s final challenge in the Globe’s 10-week summer travel series, Bagley will receive a $20 gift certificate from a Joplin-area restaurant and a $50 gas card.

All of the hundreds of correct answers submitted by readers to the travel story questions were entered into a final grand-prize drawing on Friday, and Robert Medley, of Joplin, was selected as the winner.

He will receive a two-night stay at the Grand Plaza Hotel in Branson, tickets to several shows and a $50 gift certificate to a Branson restaurant.

The Globe thanks all of those who entered the contest.
