Joplin assault results in life-threatening injuries

JOPLIN, Mo. — A Joplin man, Ronnie L. Flack, 50, is in a Springfield hopital with life-threatening injuries following an assault late Tuesday night, April 24, according to the Joplin Police Department.

Detectives said they were called to 520 E. 5th St. about 6:35 p.m. Thursday to investigate a report of an injured man. Fire and EMS crews already were on the scene.

It was initially unclear whether the injuries were received from falling off of a fence or as the result of an assault.

Upon further investigation detectives determined that Flack sustained serious physical injuries resulting from an assault. He was initially taken to a Joplin hospital with a head injury.

According to a statement from the Joplin Police Department, detectives identified and arrested 56-year-old Bobby J. Adkins as the suspect and he is being held in the Joplin City Jail awaiting formal charges of first-degree assault.
