2 get life sentences in murder-for-hire plot

ST. LOUIS — A Missouri woman has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder-for-hire killing of her husband, and so has her accomplice.

Sentencing was Monday in U.S. District Court in St. Louis for 57-year-old Elain Kay Young of Novinger and 58-year-old Katherine Mock of Cassville. Both were convicted in March of murder and murder for hire.

Young was married to Melvin “Beau” Griesbauer, her fourth husband, who was shot to death in 2006. Prosecutors said the women planned the killing to collect $1.2 million in insurance money and help save Young’s family farm and dog-breeding business near Novinger in northeast Missouri.
