JOPLIN, Mo. —
The Tri-State Iris Society’s 46th annual show will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 11, in the J.C. Penney Court at Northpark Mall.
Anyone interested may enter iris stems in the horticulture division or they can enter artistic designs using iris in six classes for adults and two classes for youth.
Floral Jazz in the Iris Garden is the theme of this year’s show.
In the horticulture division, the iris must be grown by the exhibitor, but in the artistic division, the iris doesn’t have to be grown by the exhibitor. People who don’t have iris of their own and would like to enter the artistic division my contact members of the Tri-State Iris Society.
The six classes for adults include Red Hot Jazz; Living is Easy for miniature designs; Hit the High Note; All That Jazz; Rhythm in Bloom; and Swing and Sway.
The two classes for youth are Teenybopper and She Bop.
In past years, the show has been a two-day event during Mother’s Day weekend, but this year it will be one-day.
Entries will be accepted until 10 a.m. and will be judged by American Iris Society judges.
The Tri-State Iris Society welcomes new members. Membership is $5 a year per household. Members meet at 2 p.m. the second Sunday of each month except January and July at Southwest Missouri Bank, Range Line Road and Zora Avenue.
