Neosho chamber sets dates for citywide garage sale

NEOSHO, Mo. — Neosho’s 26th annual citywide garage sale, called Missouri’s Largest Garage Sale, is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 4-5.

The event will begin at 7 a.m. each day and will be held regardless of weather conditions.

The event is produced by the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce. More than 300 families usually hold garage sales each year during the event.

“This event brings thousands to Neosho,” said Shana Griffin, chamber director, in a news release announcing the sale.

For most parts of town, it is easier to park and walk because of the number of sales, Griffin said. A few residential streets and two subdivisions will be designated one-way to control traffic.

“It’s a great event, not only for the people of Neosho, but for the thousands who come in search of bargains,” Griffin said.

Those planning to arrive in Neosho on Thursday, April 3, to get an early start on Friday are being encouraged to make hotel reservations early.

Griffin called it the granddaddy of citywide garage sales.

“We’re proud to be host of Missouri’s Largest Garage Sale,” Griffin said in the release. “Many other communities have tried to duplicate our event, but there is no other citywide sale like this one.”
