WEBB CITY, Mo. — The cause of an early Friday fire that destroyed an upholstery shop in Webb City remained undetermined, according to fire officials.

The Webb City, Carterville and Oronogo fire departments responded to a 1:22 a.m. report of a fire at 107 N. Oak St. in Webb City. Battalion Chief Mark Metsker of the Webb City Fire Department said the single-story, 40-by-50-foot shop was in flames when firefighters arrived.

No one was in the shop at the time and no injuries were reported, Metsker said. The shop is owned by Mike Grissom, who lives next door.

Metsker said a city fire inspector had yet to determine how the fire started.
