A Verona woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday on Route P, a mile north of Verona in Lawrence County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Janis S. Moon, 69, was taken to Cox Monett Hospital, the state patrol said.

Moon was driving a southbound Ford Explorer that ran off the road and struck an embankment, the patrol said.

n Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 7:35 p.m. Monday on Seventh Street at South Jackson Avenue, according to a Joplin Police Department report.

Whitney Gazaway, 16, and Kovan S. Chew, 16, were taken by ambulance to an unspecified hospital, according to the police report. No address information was listed for either of the injured teens.

Gazaway and Chew were two of four passengers in a westbound vehicle driven by Bethany A. Goad, 25, of Joplin, that collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Elizabeth J. Welters, 22, of Joplin, when Welters turned north into the path of Goad’s vehicle at the intersection, according to the report.
