A Noel man has been charged with one count of voluntary manslaughter after allegedly shooting and killing another Noel man last month.
James L. Patterson, 48, had been arrested more than a month ago in connection with the Sept. 7 shooting of Marty E. Reece. That same week, the Noel marshals office turned in probable-cause affidavits and reports to the McDonald County prosecutor.
Prosecutor Janice Durbin ultimately filed one charge of voluntary manslaughter, a class B felony, today against Patterson.
Reece was shot more than once a short distance from his home on Alexander Street, although authorities have previously declined to say how many times. Court documents do not reveal that information, although they do allege Patterson used a .45 caliber Ruger handgun.
