A Joplin man waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday in Jasper County Circuit Court on a charge of possession of child pornography.

Floyd T. Logan, 50, 2126 Princeton St., was ordered bound over for trial by Associate Judge Richard Copeland. The judge set Nov. 23 for Logan’s initial appearance in a trial division of the court.

Logan was charged in April with a Class B felony offense of possession of child pornography. Authorities say that on March 25, he turned over to police two compact discs with pornographic depictions of two girls, ages 10 and 13, according to a probable-cause affidavit.

A Joplin Police Department report says a detective had gone to the defendant’s address in the company of a state child-abuse investigator checking out a call to the state’s child-abuse hot line. The defendant knows the girls in the videos, according to the detective’s affidavit.
