BENTON, Ark. (AP) — Saline County authorities are planning an auction to sell 25 acres of what’s called a former marijuana operation.

The undeveloped timberland was seized from convicted marijuana grower Kenneth Lee Slade after it was raided by county deputies three times in recent years. The deputies reported finding snakes and bobby traps along with hundreds of marijuana plants.

Prosecuting Attorney Ken Casady says the property is believed to be free of drugs and booby traps — but he says not every inch has been searched.

The land is valued at $5,000 an acre and is near Paron — about 30 miles northwest of Benton.

The auction begins at noon Wednesday.
