Two men were arrested and charged with robbery after an incident Monday afternoon outside the Oak Meadows Apartments in Joplin.
Cpl. Chuck Niess of the Joplin Police Department said officers were called about 4:30 p.m. to the apartment complex at 1502 S. Michigan Ave. after Matthew R. Schwante, 21, of Joplin, reported being pulled out of his truck and assaulted by two men who stole his wallet.
Niess said information from witnesses led officers to one of the apartments, where Shaquille R. Burgess, 17, 1505 S. Michigan Ave., and Matthew W. Lee, 21, 229 N. Walnut Ave., were taken into custody. The Jasper County prosecutor’s office filed second-degree robbery charges Tuesday against Lee and Burgess.
