A Springfield man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 11:37 a.m. Thursday on Highway 96 at Route U, six miles west of Mount Vernon in Lawrence County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Shane R. Cottle, 22, was taken to McCune-Brooks Regional Hospital in Carthage, the patrol said.
Cottle was driving a westbound car that was stopped in traffic and was struck in the rear by a westbound tractor-trailer driven by Arlan G. Lightle, 66, of Verona, the patrol said.
