A 15-year-old boy’s loose talk on a school bus Wednesday morning resulted in his detention at Joplin High School for being in alleged possession of a number of prescription pills, according to the Joplin Police Department.
Police Cpl. Chuck Niess said other students on the bus reported hearing the juvenile brag that he had some pills that he intended to sell at the school. The school resource officer was informed, the boy’s backpack was searched, and numerous pills were found, including some Darvocet, hydrocodone, muscle relaxers and antihistamines, Niess said.
The student was detained and referred to juvenile authorities, Niess said.
