Fire damaged Reeves Tire and Automotive and Seventh Street is still blocked this morning from Illinois Avenue to Grand Street.
According to Keith Stammer, with the Joplin Fire Department, the first unit was dispatched at 4:18 a.m., and found heavy smoke with flames coming from the back of a display at the business. Within minutes, an overhead door collapsed, giving vent to the fire, which spread to the rest of building.
No one was in the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
The business is owned by William Cristy and Michael Brownfield..
The cause of the fire remains under investigation
