Pittsburg State University football coach Chuck Broyles announced today that he will retire effective immediately as head coach.
Broyles, who coached the Gorillas to one Division II national championship victory and three more title game appearances in a career that spanned 20 years, made the announcement during a press conference at PSU’s Wilkinson Alumni Center on Wednesday afternoon.
The retirement announcement comes one week after the coach’s arrest for misdemeanor driving under the influence by Galena police.
PSU President Steve Scott also announced during the event that Broyles will be placed on paid administrative leave pending the resolution of his DUI case.
