Two Nevada firefighters received minor injuries when the floor of a building they had just entered collapsed, according to a statement issued by Robert Benn, fire chief with the Nevada Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to a structure fire at 3:57 a.m. Sunday at the junction of 1300 and Quail roads, and on arrival found fire and smoke coming from the building.
"Initial attack crew made it just inside the front door when the floor collapsed sending one firefighter into the basement and the other firefighter partially into the basement. Both firefighters were rescued immediately and suffered minor injuries," Benn's report states.
The fire was determined to have started in the basement near a wood stove, and the loss was estimated at $100,000 for the building and $50,000 for the contents.
