If the go-go dancer on Live with Regis and Kelly seemed familiar this morning, she was.

Kathy Wistrom, who wanted to be an actress before she became a Webb City schoolteacher, got her chance on the little screen as a “Trivia A-Go-Go’’ dancer.

“They pick someone from the audience to do that,’’ Wistrom said in a telephone interview this morning. “They asked for volunteers. They had a try-out and I beat about 10 other people who were younger than I was.

“I think I was picked because they thought that if this woman has the guts to go on as a go-go dancer at her age, then let her do it,’’ she said.

Wistrom is in New York City this week with her husband, Ron, to see their son, Grant, inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame during ceremonies Tuesday night at the Waldorf-Astoria.

The show was recorded at the NBC Studios at 67th Street and Columbus Avenue in New York City. Bryant Gumbel served as a host to fill in for Regis Philbin, who is recovering from hip surgery.
