Joplin police have released the name of a Carthage man killed in a one-car crash late Tuesday afternoon.
Victor E. Stark, 50, was traveling west on U.S. Highway 44, about 1.8 miles west of Range Line Road, when his vehicle ran off the road and crashed on the railroad tracks below I-44 at approximately 3:10 p.m., police said. Stark was transported to Freeman Health System for treatment, and died of his injuries early this morning.
The crash remains under investigation by the department’s Major Crash Team.
Stark’s death marks the second traffic fatality in Joplin this week.
Christopher Eskandari, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near Jefferson Avenue and 32nd Street on Monday.
Eskandari was killed in a collision with a vehicle driven by Sharon Fisher, 67, who was treated at the scene.
Fisher was headed east on 32nd Street at 11:19 a.m. Monday when she slowed and made a left turn onto Jefferson Avenue, according to police. Fisher’s vehicle and Eskandari’s westbound motorcycle collided.
