Candidates interested in running for a seat on the Joplin school district’s board of education may begin filing to do so today, district officials said.
There are two seats open on the board. The election is slated for April 6. The deadline to file is Jan. 19.
The election is open to any person at least 24 years of age, who resides in the district boundaries and pays taxes into the school district. A candidate must have resided in Missouri for at least one year.
Forms are available at the administration building, 1717 E. 15th Street in Joplin.
Board president Mike Landis, and board member Ashley Micklethwaite have already filed the paperwork for re-election, a district official said Tuesday.
