TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A committee has told the Tulsa County Public Facilities Authority that the city’s old baseball stadium should be rented or leased while plans are made for future development of the site.
The Expo Square Drillers Stadium Committee says the objective of leasing or renting the stadium would be to at least pay for maintenance of the facility and perhaps make a profit.
The committee told the authority that it should develop a “request for interest” to be sent to groups interested in developing the 5.5-acre site.
County Commissioner Fred Perry, the chairman of the authority, says the committee’s plan is well thought-out. He says if a proposal isn’t received that would produce revenue for Expo Square and serve citizens, “the stadium will remain a sports stadium.”
