Subject of death probe identified

JOPLIN, Mo. — The 23-year-old man whose death was discovered this morning inside his home on South Pearl Avenue has been identified as Jacob A. Wages.

Police and emergency medical technicians were called to 1912 S. Pearl Ave. at 8:42 a.m. when the death was first discovered. But no emergency medical transport was made from the address.

Lt. Brian Lewis of the Joplin Police Department said an autopsy to determine the cause of death might not be performed before Monday. Lewis said that, due to the age of the deceased, the death was being treated as suspicious “until we can show otherwise.”
