CARL JUNCTION, Mo. —
Carl Junction’s second annual Business Expo kicks off Saturday, March 16, and officials are expecting more merchants and a bigger crowd than they got for last year’s inaugural event.
“We’ve got room for about 60 booths, which we have about six left to fill,” Chamber President Gary Stubblefield said this week. “We will have more space for outdoor booths, but we find the big call is for the inside booths because of the visibility with the crowds that come through.”
The expo was founded to showcase the Carl Junction area to businesses wanting to expand and at the same time to highlight the city itself, Stubblefield said.
“We are definitely here for Carl Junction economic development and Southwest Missouri development,” Stubblefield said. “We’re marketing the city and letting people know what we have to offer and to show how strong we already are. We gained a lot of new members last year and we are looking for that to happen again this year.”
Stubblefield said that he drew upon other chambers’ experiences in putting together the expo last year.
“We got a lot of help from the Joplin chamber and we helped reciprocate that last fall when Webb City put theirs on,” Stubblefield said. “You got to see the area as a whole grow more and you really see how interconnected we are and how dedicated everyone is to making that happen.”

The Carl Junction Busines Expo begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 16, and run until 2 p.m. and will feature door prizes and giftbags. The cost for attendance is $2. The event is held at the Carl Junction Community Center, 303 N. Main St.

Schifferdecker water park opening delayed week or two
