Jasper County Commission approves Airport Drive contract for sheriff’s coverage

AIRPORT DRIVE, Mo. — The arrangement between Jasper County and Airport Drive for law enforcement in the village will be expanded under a contract approved by the Jasper County Commission today.

Commissioners endorsed an agreement proposed by the village board and Sheriff Randee Kaiser to add a second officer for enforcement in the village. Airport Drive for years has had an agreement with the sheriff’s office to police the village, enforcing village ordinances as well as state law.

Adding the second officer will bring the annual contract between the village and the county to $122,779. The arrangement will allow a second officer to work a night shift, and is to start April 1.

The new pact makes the agreement between the village and the county.

Norman Rouse, attorney for the commission, noted the previous contact was between the village and the sheriff’s office.
