JOPLIN, Mo. —
Joplin residents will be able to sign a 20-foot banner sending messages of hope and encouragement to the people of Moore, Okla., during the anniversary ceremony today in Cunningham Park.
The ceremony will mark the two-year anniversary of the tornado that struck Joplin on May 22, 2011.
“We remember receiving these types of messages from people of all ages depicted on various types of artwork and items,” City Manager Mark Rohr said in a statement. “These inspirational gifts really did lift up our spirits, and we hope we can do the same for them.”
